Ms Harrison knows how to deliver a “bad” guy that we can’t help but love and she does it again with Broken Reign.
Tobias and Skye have a connection that radiates off the page and I truly enjoyed seeing them together- even when they didn’t like each other. What I especially appreciated about this story is the way Ms Harrison eases us into the history of who Tobias and Skye really are and the (oops..... I almost said too much there). The clues and pieces revealed make the story and their interactions richer.
The general story line and driving force behind Tobias is somewhat similar to things we've seen before, but is definitely a fresh perspective. How He and Skye come to be in each other orbits is interesting and I wonder if Tobias' personality could have let the events unfold any other way.
Fans of Ms Harrison will be intrigued to see familiar characters appear in supporting roles here and it was a pleasure to see these faces pop up and know how they are now, but don't worry as this is very much a stand alone read. There are enough details included that the secondary characters are that they add depth to the story and move things along without trying to steal the show.
Broken Reign is a bit on the dark side in terms of action and Tobias is a character that you have to look to see his good side, but the evolution of who he is around Skye is impressive. This is a read definitely worth your time.
