Sneaking Around With #34 by Piper Rayne is now live!
I have a reputation for being tight-lipped. You learn quick when you become a professional hockey player to be guarded with the media, so I've worked hard to cover up the mistakes of my youth.
But when I'm traded to the Florida Fury, where my ex-best friend is the starting right wing, I'm forced to confront my past. Ford and I have a lot of history, especially when it comes to his little sister, Imogen.
My heart still lurches in my chest when I see her.
My hands want to reach out and touch her.
My mouth wants to keep apologizing.
She's the only woman who ever made me want more. But she's also the one who fell victim to my most regrettable decision.
I'm not a believer in fate, but I must be back in her world for a reason. I've fought for everything I've gotten and I'm not backing down from what I know will be the best thing in my life.

Sneaking Round With #34 brings us back to the world of the Florida Furies with previously seen secondary characters Imogen (Ford's sister) and Warner (the hated teammate).
When we meet these two, we know there are some seriously strong feelings, but we don't know just why or the history that surrounds Warner and the Jacobs siblings. I appreciated the way that the duo of Piper Rayne used flashbacks to fill in the details while also letting us see the current interactions.
The tension in the first part of this book was high while Warner persued Imogen and she resisted. I found myself liking both characters and on the edge of my seat while we waited to see just what would happen to cause the pot to boil over.
While we see several teammates of Warners in the secondary cast, the group that truly impacts the story is small and focuses on Ford and Jana (Imogen's boss). The Ford connection is pretty obvious as he is Imogens' brother and Warner's former/current teammate. It's Ford's role and how he's portrayed here that actually brought this down from a full four star read for me. While some of Ford's behavior rang true to his personality, there were other places where I felt like he was trying to take over the story and some of his hard won likeability was erroded by his behavior here. As frustrated as I was with Ford, I felt for him a little too once all the dust settled.
Jana was a surprise secondary character and I hope we see more of her in the future.
Overall, this is a spicy second chance story with a strong sweet side. Hockey Hottie fans will be glad to see the previous characters make frequent appearances and maybe, just maybe we have a few glimpses of what will come in the future.
