M.C. Decker is the author of the Unspoken Series which includes the Unwritten Duet as well as the standalone novel, Love Entwined. She lives in a suburb of Flint, Michigan with her husband and spoiled-rotten Siamese cat, Simon. For the last decade, she has worked as a journalist for several community newspapers in Michigan's Thumb region. She enjoys all things '80s and '90s pop culture: movies, boy bands, music and especially the color, hot pink. What happens when two wounded people meet and sparks fly?
That's the story Ms Decker tells in Unforseen. Blake is a young widower with two young children and Cassidy is a single mother. They meet when their mutual friends get married and the attraction is immediate.
For the most part, this is a really sweet story. I liked both Blake and Cassidy and enjoyed seeing them together. I even appreciated how Blake was the one pursuing Cassidy and wooing her into trying a romance.
I struggled a little bit with some of the drama in the relationship. Yes, both Blake and Cassidy had baggage that impacts them now, but the hot and cold - especially on Blake's part and Cassidy's response bothered me.
Stories like this one get held to a very high standard for me, mainly because I've seen real life examples. Unforseen is good, but parts of it seemed rushed and not quiet to the quality I would have anticipated from Ms. Decker.
This is an enjoyable book and worth a read. Fans of Ms. Decker' earlier Books will get to see much loved faces here too.
