Slow Ride (Road to Love, #2)Slow Ride by Lori Foster

3.5 Stars - Worth a Reader's Time

Review Copy Provided by Publisher via Net Galley

Ms Foster brings us back to the Crews brothers of Mustang Transportation, this time focusing on Jack and his unlikely lady Ronnie. Jack and Ronnie (along with Jack’s family) were easy to like and it was a pleasure to watch Ronnie come out of her shell.

A suspense filled sub plot helped move the story along at a nice pace and was a great vehicle for Jack and Ronnie’s developing relationship.

The secondary cast is fairly small, primarily the Crews family and Ronnie’s employers. While this is a standalone read, the series is sequential meaning there are glimpses of Brodie and Mary from book 1 and we see a little more of other characters who will play a key role in book 3.

Slow Ride is an entertaining read that lived up to the expectations I have for Ms Foster’s work. The characters and situations are unique and I am looking forward to seeing what comes next.

The Cowboy Next Door (Montana Strong, #2)The Cowboy Next Door by R.C. Ryan

3.5 Stars - Worth a Reader's Time

Review Copy Provided by Publisher via Net Galley

After enjoying the first Montana Strong book, I was curious about what would happen to the other Monroe brothers. Sam’s story didn’t disappoint.

This well written and fun book showed just how much love and respect can temper the extremes of personalities. Penny and Sam were the perfect counter parts to each other and I enjoyed watching their relationship blossom.

Add is a bit of suspense/intrigue and this was a strong addition to the series. The strong secondary cast gives glimpses of the family surrounding the Monroe ranch. It was nice to see bits of Ben and a Becca as well as getting to Finn a bit more. I am looking forward to seeing more of this family in Finn’s book!

Smoke and Mirrors (Outbreak Task Force, #2)Smoke and Mirrors by Julie Rowe

My rating: 4 of 5 stars - Would Recommend to a Friend

Ms Rowe is a new to me author and I’m so glad I discovered her.
Kinni is a CDC nurse who has stumbled on to something strange. Smoke is a former soldier who thinks he just stopping by his parents for a few days. A fateful meeting and a call from an old friend set an adventure in motion that these two will never forget.

With likeable characters, both primary and secondary, and well as adventurous story line. Smoke and Mirrors was an excellent read.

I really did enjoy each piece of this book. Yes, the time line is short and we are dealing with an instant attraction/Bond, but the more we get to know Kinni and Smoke the more that makes sense. The suspense plot keeps you guessing with several different faints and misdirects - all of which make perfect sense!

This is part of a series, but I didn’t feel like I missed anything by starting with book 2 - if anything I now what to go read the authors back list!
