Oliver Parkerson has been with us for a while. He has actually spanned two different series as a secondary character and he finally gets his own chance at a potential happily ever after here.
The set up here is unique and I enjoyed seeing Oliver and Maren begin a journey that never went the way they planned or expected. I found both characters to be likeable and to be people I could see myself being friends with. The situations these two found themselves in were a crucible of sorts that forced feelings to develop…. Or not (you get to read to find out).
We know going in that there is going to be emotional drama - this is a Corrine Michales book after all. The drama in this story is incredibly organic to the characters and personalities involved. There was an element of “yeah…. That might not work” a couple of times and it was fun to see both our main and secondary characters chime in with their thoughts on the various plans.
As the last book in the Willow Creek Valley series, the other Parkerson siblings play a key roll in the secondary cast. Loyal Michaels readers will enjoy several other cameo appearances as well. A Chance for Us not only tells us Oliver’s story, but it gives us a chance to be updated on everyone else. Ms Michaels’ does an excellent job of weaving these details together so that it all flows smoothly.
I am disappointed to see this series end, but enjoyed the final journey with this fun family. I hope they pop into future works - maybe future characters can vacation at Melia Lake.
