Something like Love by Piper Rayne ~ New Release & Review

Something Like Love by Piper Rayne is now live!

I want to.

I can’t.

I’ve been friends with Cooper Rice from the moment we met. He was just as famous a decade ago on our college campus as he is now being the star quarterback for the Chicago Grizzlies.

But he’s not only talented on the field, he’s also the gorgeous football star women fawn over, posing in underwear and razor ads.

Here’s a secret those women don’t know—Cooper Rice isn’t a playboy. He’s the kind of man who wants to settle down with a family. He’s content ordering pizza and massaging my feet after my long shift as an emergency room doctor. He listens to me as if he’s as invested as I am in my patients. He has never let me down.

This is exactly why I refuse to live without Cooper in my life. Eight years ago, I made him promise me that we’d never cross that line. And just like I knew Cooper would, he’s held to that promise.

Despite our best efforts, our relationship is evolving, shifting into new territory and I find myself unsure if I want Cooper to keep that promise. Ignoring the obvious could tear us apart, but so could giving in, meaning there’s a chance I’ll lose Cooper forever no matter what decision I make.

Elizabeth's Review

3.5 stars - Worth a Reader's Time

Review Copy provided by Author

Something Like Love is the third and final installment of the Chicago Grizzlies books featuring the men of The Den. We finally get to see what happens when Ellery and Cooper explore the next installment of their friendship.

Since this stand-alone is the conclusion of the Grizzlies arc, we’ve seen a lot of these two in supporting roles before. This can completely be read as an independent book, but I would suggest reading the series in order to get the full effect.

I really wanted to love this book. The friends-to-lovers trope is one of my favorites and I’ve been a long-time fan of Piper Rayne. I didn’t quite love Copper and Ellery here, so I have to say on the Cold Stone scale this is an “I like it.” I wish I could point to one thing that made it not be an “I love it,” but I can’t - it really is a series of small things that were off. Sorry for the lack of elaboration, but this is a spoiler-free zone.

Don’t get me wrong, this is a good book and totally worth the time to read it! I enjoyed the interactions between the group of friends and Piper Rayne did an excellent job of capturing how a group can be impacted when two of the core members are at odds. I also appreciated how they used minimal flashbacks to give us insight into the friendship at the core of the question along with some of the hang-ups involved.

I’m sorry to see this story arc end, but I am curious to see what happens in the newly-christened Nest.
