After meeting the Maguire family in Charlotte’s book, I was curious about her brothers. Rory (along with Connor and Finn) did not disappoint here. Rory is paired with Ainsley, a local news reporter, in an unusual police protection detail.
Both characters are interesting and there is a slight intrigue element to their story as well. I appreciated the way Ms Holt maintained the tension between Rory and Ainsley as they navigated through the working relationship to the potential of more.
The family and “dream” elements are strong in this story and we see more of the other Maguire brothers than we did in Charlotte’s story, so that has me curious as to which of the middle siblings we will hear from next.

Welcome back to the world of the Chicago Rebels!
This time we are hanging out with Bast Durand (previous secondary character and brother of Reid) as he recovers from an injury and deals with a streak of bad luck. He is paired with Coach’s daughter, Pepper, as she deals with her own history/baggage.
I enjoyed these two together and the instant chemistry, slow burn, frustration to friends, to more journey they went on.
I especially liked how these two helped each other navigate their current pitfalls and see a way forward. The secondary cast here is almost exclusively previous featured players, so there are lots of “where are they now” for loyal readers to enjoy.
This is less of a hockey book and more a book where the lead character plays hockey. It’s also connected to previous Rebel books, but can easily be read on its own.

This is a book that I picked up for free recently out of curiosity. It was an entertaining quick read, but I don’t think I will be paying for the other 12(!) books in the series.
This world centers around a motorcycle club and it’s pretty rough. Zak, an early 30s member recently out of prison mistakes a local baker for something she’s not in their not exactly meet cute.
What follows in this plot driven story honestly stretches the imagination. There is very little character development for either Zak or Sophie. Their interactions are primarily physical, making some of the “love” story harder to believe.
As this is also the first book in the series, there is a lot of world building and secondary characters thrown in. So far, it isn’t too confusing, but I could see how it could be as things progress.
