In Coach, Devney Perry introduces to the Treasure State Wildcats and their brand new head coach Ford Ellis. We meet adult Ford on his first day of work when he not only returns to his alma matter, but also runs right into his biggest romantic regret/former best friend, Millie.
These two together are just awesome! I appreciated how Ms Perry approached the reunion between these once best friends. A bit of a chase, grovelling, expanations, and apologies all played a role as Millie let us see just how strong of a character she is and did what she needed to do to protect herself.
Coach has a great sense of balance. The overall story is fairly condensed, but the timing plays out so that we can see Ford's persistence pay off in reestablishing his friendship with Millie, doing his job well, and being an awesome dad to his 9 year old daughter.
Overall, this is a well written story that pulled me in and made me glad that I was getting started on a quiet weekend. I didn't want to put this story down! I am hoping that we see Ford and Millie made apperances in future books featuring the Athletic Department at TSU!
